Be empowered by the S-Line

Introduction

The S-line is a carefully crafted selection of NIKKOR Z lenses catered to a photographer’s every need. Built for and empowered by the Nikon Z mount system’s larger inner diameter of 55mm and shorter flange focal distance of 16mm, these lenses offer superior optical performance. With the S-line lenses, fully utilise the advantages of the Z mount system and experience a higher calibre of photography standards. The S-line has cleared newly established standards in design principles and quality control that are even stricter than Nikon’s conventional standards.

Discover Enhanced Capabilities

No matter what skill level or occasion – the S-Line has a lens for you.

For the classic scenic photography shot, the S-line offers superior resolution even at the periphery, which is enabled by the larger inner diameter. When shooting distant scenes, high resolving power that reproduces details even at the periphery is highly demanded. Superior resolution across the entire shooting range allows sharpness to fill the entire frame, which produces stunning image resolution for wide, landscape shots.

Choose an S-line lens for high optical performance in any situation, be it landscape or street photography. The S-line lenses now produce refined images with minimal chromatic aberration in high-contrast areas. Colouring that is likely to occur on a subject’s outline when shooting high-contrast scenes is effectively compensated, producing never-before-seen high-resolution visuals with sharply rendered outlines.

The S-line also takes into account the need for a flexible lens that works well in all shooting ranges. The range of lenses are wide enough to cover the view and shallow enough to draw out subjects, maintaining resolution at all distances. With close distance shots, aberration control is considerably more difficult when using a fast lens. Often times, it can be quite the challenge to reproduce the textures of minute subjects with thin lines. But with the S-line, natural reproduction of minute subjects can be captured throughout the entire shooting range from close distances to infinity at maximum aperture.

The most well-loved effect that can elevate any image composition is the bokeh effect. With the S-Line, reproduce natural circular bokeh in the background with minimal colouring and seamlessly direct your viewer’s eyes to the subject. When done right, bokeh creates a nostalgic and artistic feel whilst elegantly delivering a sense of depth, excellently balanced relationships between main subject and bokeh is produced.

Night landscapes and astrophotography are notoriously difficult to shoot. One big problem arises: the sagittal comma flare. This is when the point light source appears as a shape that resembles a bird spreading its wings. The S-line’s improved image reproduction reduces this issue, enhancing the optical performance of the whole lens.

Backlight situations pose an even tougher problem to crack: the reflection. In the S-line, Nikon has solved this issue with the introduction of the Nano Crystal Coat in selected lenses within the range, enabling you to capture clearer and crisper images with even lesser ghost and flare effects. When there is a light source within the frame, the S-Line lens would still be able to capture scenes as viewed without worrying about limitations in light conditions or aperture settings. Now, photographers and videographers have unprecedented freedom to experiment with whatever shooting positions and compositions they desire.

The potential of the S-line is unparalleled and powerful, demonstrating an intensive consideration for even the smallest details through the Z mount system. Its outstanding resolution capabilities keeps up with future imaging demands, providing photographers and videographers alike with exciting and satisfying shooting experiences.
